Research advances of applications of urinary angiotensinogen for kidney disease

    • The prevalence of acute kidney injury(AKI)and chronic kidney disease(CKD)continues spiking globally. Many studies have attributed the pathogenesis of AKI/CKD to a continuous activation of renin-angiotensin system(RAS).Particularly the production of angiotensin Ⅱ(AngⅡ)is correlated with activating pro-inflammatory and pro-fibrotic pathways so that it has become an important driving factor for the development of AKI/CKD.It was reported that urinary angiotensinogen(UAGT),as a biomarker, could reflect the activity of RAS in kidney better than the detection of RAS activity in circulation.Based upon recent researches,UAGT played an important role in the occurrence and development of AKI/CKD.
