Effect of epicardial adipose tissue on chronic kidney disease

    • Under physiological conditions, epicardial adipose tissue can secrete adipokines with cardioprotective properties.Under pathological conditions, the biologically active molecules secreted by it will promote atherosclerosis and myocardial fibrosis, thus triggering cardiovascular disease. The morbidity and mortality of cardiovascular disease in patients with chronic kidney disease are very high.Studies have shown that the epicardial fatty tissue is closely related to the occurrence of cardiovascular disease. Therefore,it is of great clinical significance to understand the relationship between epicardial adipose tissue and chronic kidney disease.
