Progress in research on correlation between pathological characteristics and prognosis of diabetic kidney disease

    • As one of the major complications of diabetes, diabetic kidney disease is the leading cause for end-stage renal failure.Proteinuria and serum creatinine are still the main clinical indicators for judging the occurrence and prognosis of diabetic kidney disease, but there are deficiencies in sensitivity and specificity.Renal pathology is still the gold standard for the diagnosis of diabetic kidney disease, and is more relevant to the clinical manifestations and prognosis of diabetic kidney disease. This review aims to summarize recent studies at home and abroad on the correlation between pathological features and clinical prognosis in patients with diabetic kidney disease.
