Correlation of circular RNAs with diabetes mellitus and its complications

Diabetes mellitus(DM)is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia,becoming a serious threat to human health.Long-term hyperglycemia does harm to cardiovascular system,kidney,peripheral nerves,retina and other tissues or organs,which seriously affects the diabetic patients’ quality of life.Current data suggests that the pathogenesis of DN is not fully understood.Recent researches show that circular RNA may regulate the pathogenesis of multiple diseases including DM and its complications.This article is written to review the researches about the effects of circular RNAs on pathogenesis of diabetes mellitus and its complications.
