Benserazide in maintenance hemodialysis restless legs syndrome research and application in the treatment of patients

Objective Study of benserazide in maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) restless leg syndrome (RLS) clinical curative effect in treatment of patients. Methods From January 2013 to December 2016 in hospital receiving treatment for MHD uremic patients with RLS in 76 cases, 76 cases of RLS patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. The control group was given L-carnitine therapy on the basis of the basic therapy,and the study group was given benserazide on the basis of the control group. The IRLSSG scores, quality of sleep, night-periodic limb movement, arousal, and adverse reactions were observed before and after the treatment. Results After the treatment, two groups of IRLSSG scores, sleep quality scores decreased (P<0.05). Benserazide group IRLSSG scores, sleep quality scores were lower than the control group (P<0.05). After the treatment, two groups of night-nocturnal microarousals and times of periodic limb movement gradually reduced (P<0.05). Benserazide group nocturnal periodic limb movement was less than the control group (P<0.05). Conclusions In relieving MHD as treatment of uremic patients with RLS symptoms, benserazide can improve sleep quality.
