Abstract:
Objective To evaluate the clinical value of carbon dioxide (CO
2) angiography during arteriovenous access in hemodialysis patients.
Methods A CO
2 -sealed delivery and automatic injection system was established and CO
2 angiography was performed in 40 hemodialysis patients with chronic kidney disease.Adverse reactions and CO
2 dose were recorded before and after angiography.
Results All examinations proceeded smoothly and safely.Forty cases (100%) could acquire relatively distinct images and basically fulfill the needs of clinical examination and treatment.No serious adverse reactions occurred during the procedure.There was an onset of mild transient terminal extremity pain (
n=3,7.5%).CO
2 angiography with different blood flows at different sites had different reference doses.
Conclusion CO
2 angiography may be applied safely and reliably for evaluating the function of arteriovenous access in hemodialysis patients.
