Abstract:
With wider applications of percutaneous coronary intervention for coronary heart disease, the frequency of using contrast media has increased dramatically. However, one of the most important complications in using contrast media is acute kidney injury (AKI).It worsens patient condition, extends hospitalization stay and increases medical expenses. The problems have attracted the attention of experts in the fields of nephrology, cardiology and medical imaging.A comprehensive understanding of risk factors and pathogenesis of contrast-induced AKI and necessary preventive measures can effectively reduce patient morbidity.Despite continuous development of diagnosis and treatment, there are still some unresolved issues. This review focused upon risk factors, pathogenesis and preventive strategies of contrast-induced AKI and provided references for clinical practices.
